It is difficult for them to grow well without the attention and moral support of an adult. Looks like children really need a person to guide them after all. Liked how Margaret, the aunt’s daughter, adds humour to the drama. The only good thing about her is that she accepts her husband’s children as her own. The 4 children’s aunt is kind of annoying to me… She can neither solve the children’s problems nor can she settle her own personal affairs. Especially when he calls her Xiaomei as if he is older than her, chocking Xuemei as a result whenever she hears it. It is fun to watch Guoqiang, an ex-prisoner, chasing after Xuemei, trying to win her heart. Even the domestic helper secretly wishes that she is the children’s mother. She confiscates their electronic gadgets, makes them play board games and do homework, much to the children’s unhappiness. It is funny when she is asked to look after her sister’s 2 children. I am impressed with her ability to provide maternal guidance even though she is not a mother yet. Liked how Xuemei understands people so well that she can predict the children’s actions and help them out. It was unexpected that the girl Haowei liked did not marry him… Liked the process of how Haowei becomes more confident of himself and securing his job. Haowei even musters his courage to demand the gangsters to let go of Haolian and stands his ground until Xuemei arrives. I enjoyed the scene where the family goes out to find Haolian after he left the house in anger. She even lost her way back home and went into other people’s house. Liked her angry looks a lot in this drama. It is funny how Huixin turns out to be ghost-like after locking herself in the room for many years. Even rebellious Haolian did her biding on their first meeting.

It is hilarious to see many people being afraid of Xuemei. This does serve a bit of purpose in this drama since it matches his personality.

Why must Singapore Dramas make the character’s name have double meaning? Is it for comical effect? In this drama, Haolian’s name sounds like another Chinese word which means boastful. Starring Huang Biren as He Xuemei/Tiger mum, Yao Wenlong as Chen Kai, Julie Tan as Chen Huixin, Ian Fang as Chen Haowei, Aloysius Pang as Chen Haolian, Bonnie Loo as Chen Huiyan and Jeffrey Xu as Zhang Guoqiang.
